Meet Chef JT
Hi, I’m Joy. Most people call me Chef JT.
I didn’t grow up wanting to be a chef in the traditional sense. I grew up around food that meant something. Food that brought people together. Food that felt like care. Food that didn’t need explaining.
Food has always been how I connect with people. It’s how I show love. It’s how I make moments feel intentional without needing to say much. African and Caribbean flavors are a big part of what raised me, and I love blending them with what inspires me now. Familiar, but a little unexpected. Comforting, but thoughtful.
I didn’t go to culinary school or have any Michelin training. What I do have is years of cooking for real people, real events, real moments. I’ve learned by experimenting, messing up, trying again, and feeding anyone who will let me. People come back for seconds, and that’s how I know I’m doing something right.
At Haven’s Table, it’s never just about the food. It’s about the experience around it. The way people gather. The conversations that happen. The memories that stick.
